After a successful first run of The 21st Century Merchant of Venice (21CMOV) in June, McFarland Ray Productions has decided to produce a second, longer run of the play in the autumn at a theatre to be announced.
In order to get the play onto the stage, an application for a grant has been made to The Arts Council of England and the good news is that it's made it through the first round.
Meanwhile, 21CMOV director Carol Allen has been appointed as producer for this second run. One of the main priorities for the producers will be to raise money through sponsorship once again. Thanks to generous family, friends and contacts, we were able to pay our actors and crew a decent share of the profits from ticket sales from the first run. This time we're aiming to pay all actors and crew National Minimum Wage for rehearsals and performances.
In other news, McFarland Ray Productions is looking to make a short comedy film in the next few months and the company is looking for a female director with a passion for comedy film-making. We already have a wonderful script.
It's going to be a busy few months.
